Alex Jones serves as Chair of KJK’s Corporate & Securities Practice Group. He advises businesses, entrepreneurs, private equity groups, investors, and management teams on complex legal and strategic business matters. His practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, ownership transitions, financing transactions, strategic growth initiatives, commercial contracting, and outside general counsel services.
Alex represents buyers, sellers, founders, investors, and business owners through every stage of the business lifecycle. He regularly counsels clients on acquisitions and divestitures, corporate structuring, governance matters, succession planning, and other transactions that position businesses for long-term growth. He works closely with clients to understand their business objectives and provide practical legal guidance that supports strategic decision-making.
In addition to his corporate practice, Alex is a member of KJK’s eCommerce and Intellectual Property practice groups. He advises companies on brand protection strategies, intellectual property matters, unauthorized reseller enforcement, and online marketplace issues. His experience includes representing businesses nationwide in litigation against unauthorized sellers and other bad actors whose conduct threatens brand value and reputation.
Alex has been consistently recognized in The Best Lawyers in America®: Ones to Watch for Mergers and Acquisitions Law. He was also selected for the Cleveland Leadership Center Bridge Builders Class of 2023 and the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association Leadership Academy Class of 2021–2022, leadership development programs that prepare attorneys and business professionals to make a lasting impact in their organizations and communities.
A graduate of Cleveland State University College of Law, Alex is a Cleveland resident and an avid bicyclist.
Representative Experience
- Led the $82 million sale of an aviation repair and service company to a strategic acquirer.
- Structured and negotiated the division of a $300 million real estate portfolio and the formation of a new partnership platform.
- Led sell-side execution for the $150 million divestiture of a cable assembly and high-speed connectors business, including management of Hart-Scott-Rodino clearance and related antitrust considerations.
- Spearheaded a strategic roll-up of multiple plastics manufacturers within the waste disposal industry, driving consolidation and platform expansion.
- Represented buyer in a series of product line acquisitions for an aerospace company with an aggregate value exceeding $20 million, enhancing operational capabilities and market position.
- Represented seller in the $25 million sale of a pallet distribution company, including negotiation of rollover equity and execution of a pre-closing F reorganization.
- Advised a family office in the $8 million asset acquisition of a leading orthotics manufacturer, including negotiation of key commercial and transition arrangements.
- Counseled a private equity sponsor in the $12.5 million acquisition of a highway and traffic safety products manufacturer, including structuring and negotiating a seller rollover equity component.
- Led the $52 million equity sale of a packaging company to a private equity buyer, including negotiation of rollover equity terms.
- Counseled on the acquisition of a multi-jurisdictional insurance adjusting firm with operations across the United States, Canada, and the Caribbean.
- Advised on the acquisition of an automobile dealership and related real estate, coordinating business and property transfers.
- Led and advised on public-to-private mergers across multiple industries, including the take-private of a pet products company and a natural gas utility.
- Represented the owner of multiple early childhood education centers in the sale of the business and related real estate to a private equity platform.
- Counseled multiple insurance and employee benefits firms in their sales to a large private equity platform.
